Amy
Blaschke
Self-Titled
(2003, Luckyhorse
Industries)
Amy
Blaschke's eponymous debut CD is sleepy and uninspired. Female lead
vocals over acoustic guitar and bass, and lyrics that show Amy is
a disciple of Dar Williams and Ani DiFranco. The lyrics are very
mundane and, frankly, delivered like the singer has just been roused
from a nap and asked to sing. The only track that is interesting
is the closing song, 'Avalanche'. However, that song is ruined because
they decided to do one of those mock-fade outs and have 20 seconds
of silence followed by a bit of noise. The whole CD comes off as
self-important and self-involved.
